The feeling of isolation felt by the kids as they are removed from school and their normal routine. Constant fear of relapse felt by the entire family. Many kids suffer from anxiety, depression, and even posttraumatic stress. LtP’s founder Cat Blyth created the foundation in 2018 after being inspired by 14-year-old Jack Schumacher, who died of cancer in May of that year, and the many kids he met at Camp Millennium. Cat & Jack met through the Chemo Pal Program at OHSU’s Doernbechers Children’s Hospital while Jack was battling osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. They bonded over their love of sports and some heated UNO Card battles. After Jack’s died in May of 2018, Cat had trouble coming to terms with his death. That was until he was pushed by a friend to attend Camp Millennium, a summer camp for kids battling cancer.
